Assam Orunodoi Scheme

Orunodoi’ or Arunodoi Scheme is a scheme of the Government of Assam launched on 2nd October 2020. The Scheme envisages poverty eradication and socio-economic ­­inclusion of financially vulnerable families of the state through sustained financial assistance by Direct Bank Transfer (DBT), so that underprivileged families are assured of minimum monthly cash flow. Under ‘Orunodoi’, monetary benefits have been envisaged for more than 24 lakh poor household in the state.

 

Orunodoi 2.0 was an upgraded version of its predecessor and was launched on 14th December 2022. All the existing beneficiaries of the Deen Dayal Divyangan Pension Yojana and Indira Miri Widow Pension Scheme were subsumed under Orunodoi 2.0. Divyangans and transgenders were also included under the scheme.

 

Currently, Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme was introduced and launched on 19th September 2024 phasing out the previous versions and expanding its reach to cover 37.2 lakh beneficiaries. This new phase increases the number of recipients by over 12.5 lakh compared to the 24.6 lakh recipients of Orunodoi 2.0, making it the largest state-run Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) initiative in Assam's history. Widows, families with unmarried daughters above 45 years of age, divorced women, families with persons of the third gender, those with disabilities, grandmothers in government old-age homes, families affected by AIDS, thalassemia, or leprosy and women who beg for a living are all eligible for the scheme.

 

The scheme initially provided a Financial Assistance of Rs 830/- per month but during Covid was enhanced by Rs. 170 totalling to Rs. 1000. Later it was again enhanced by Rs. 250 to help families with electricity expenses coming to a final sum of Rs. 1250/- per month.

 

Selection List under Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme 2024 -

All eligible, including existing beneficiaries of the scheme must apply afresh for Orunodoi 3.0. The selection of beneficiaries will be conducted at the district level by the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) and will ensure that the distribution of benefits is carried out in a transparent and organised manner. Consequently, the selection list will be released by the Government of Assam and the applicants who got selected under the Orunodoi Scheme will receive funds through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode to the bank account of the nominated woman of the family.
